LimeSDR USB and Mini — full-duplex transmit-capable SDR

Vendor: Lime Microsystems

Status: supported — the identifiers and setup recipe are believed correct.

Not maintainer-verified: nobody on this project has run this hardware yet. The two facts are recorded separately on purpose (D-027) — a correct recipe and a tested device are different claims.

What it is

A full-duplex transmit-capable software defined radio with a field-programmable RF transceiver, sold as a full-size USB board and a smaller Mini variant.

What you can do with it

Simultaneous transmit and receive across a wide range, and the LimeSuite tooling for calibrating and configuring the transceiver directly.

Setup

Install limesuite and soapysdr-module-lms7 from apt, then run LimeUtil --find. The full-size USB board's identifier is confirmed and its rule applies; a Mini's is from Debian's rule only, so check LimeUtil --find as an unprivileged user before trusting the permission grant.

Known problems

USB and Mini are different hardware with different identifiers and different quirks. Debian ships limesuite 23.11 while upstream has moved to LimeSuiteNG; the two are not interchangeable and DragonOS carries both.

How it identifies itself

USB id What Confirmed Node
1d50:6108 LimeSDR-USB (Myriad-RF) - the full-size USB board yes libusb
0403:601f FTDI FT601 32-bit FIFO - the USB interface on LimeSDR Mini yes libusb
04b4:00f1 Cypress FX3 in bootloader mode - LimeSDR firmware recovery yes libusb

What is not yet known

Narrowed again, still not closed. 1d50:6108 is the full-size LimeSDR-USB: an owner's capture said so in the product string (issue #30, 2026-09-05), and it presents no serial device, only the libusb node. What remains is the Mini: 0403:601f comes from Debian's rule alone and no Mini owner has reported yet, so whether current Mini revisions still present it is unknown. The maintainer owns neither board; a Mini owner running scripts/identify-device.sh limesdr would close the rest.

Who can close it: nobody on this project owns one — an operator who does can close it with one lsusb (how).

Access and permissions

Group membership required: plugdev — added at install, applies at next login.
