uconsole¶
ClockworkPi uConsole — portable handheld Linux terminal used as a field radio host
Vendor: ClockworkPi
Status: planned — catalogued ahead of hardware existing to test.
Not maintainer-verified: nobody on this project has run this hardware yet. The two facts are recorded separately on purpose (D-027) — a correct recipe and a tested device are different claims.
What it is¶
A small handheld computer built around a Raspberry Pi compute module or a ClockworkPi core, with a built-in display, keyboard and battery — used here as a portable host for field radio work.
What you can do with it¶
Run the same catalog on a machine you can carry, which is the point of the portable and field-kit parts of this project.
Setup¶
Not documented. Nothing has been tested on this hardware. Per D-018 and Q-003 this project does not claim Raspberry Pi or uConsole support until it is verified on the actual device.
Known problems¶
Display rotation, audio routing and power management all need configuration beyond a stock install. The arm64 container target exercises architecture selectors only and is explicitly not a claim of Pi or uConsole support.
What is not yet known¶
Not a USB peripheral. The uConsole is a host computer, so it has no VID:PID to record and does not fit the device model the rest of this catalog uses. It is here because its display, audio routing and power management need configuration that no ham or SDR project ships, and because the Hacker Gadgets AIO expansion board attached to it may present USB devices that do need entries. None of that has been characterised here. It is also the one device Hammunition may build an image for (D-084, epic #372): first a documented route from a stock CM4 uConsole to Debian 13 and hammunition install uconsole, and an image only if that route cannot be written.
Who can close it: nothing to capture; the gap is documentation, not measurement.
