dmr-radio (device class)

DMR handhelds being programmed over USB — codeplug read and write

DMR handhelds — Anytone, TYT, Baofeng, Radioddity and their rebadges — seen from the Linux side while being programmed. Most of the time that is an ordinary USB serial connection; for some radios it is a bare microcontroller in a bootloader.

Shared setup

Install qdmr or dmrconfig, join dialout, then log out and back in — group membership does not apply to a session already open. Attach the radio with its programming cable and read the codeplug BEFORE writing one, so there is something to go back to.

Shared tooling

dfu-util, dmrconfig, qdmr, radio-tool
