soapysdr-module-plutosdr

SoapySDR driver module for the ADALM-Pluto

What it does

A plugin for SoapySDR that makes the Analog Devices ADALM-Pluto usable through the generic SoapySDR interface, over the network link the device presents rather than through a character device.

Why you would want it

Without it, SoapySDR-based software cannot see a Pluto at all. With it, the same applications that drive an RTL-SDR or a HackRF will drive a Pluto.

Before it will work

An ADALM-Pluto, and libiio, which the Pluto is reached through. On Debian 13 and Parrot this package is simply not available — see known problems.

How it installs

  • apt: soapysdr-module-plutosdr — on kali
  • Kali only. Absent from Debian 13 and Parrot, where this package resolves to nothing at all — it is in Debian unstable and has not reached stable.

Known problems

Not packaged for Debian 13 or Parrot, only for Kali. On a stable Debian base there is currently no apt route to Pluto support in SoapySDR, and this manifest says so rather than shipping an untested source build. The Pluto is also a composite device reached over its USB network interface, so it does not fit the single-device-node model most of this catalog assumes.

Keeping it current

  • probe: apt policy
  • strategy: apt_upgrade
