soapysdr-module-osmosdr¶
SoapySDR driver module for OsmoSDR and MiriSDR hardware
- Version recorded: 0.2.5
- Categories:
sdr-hardware - Upstream: https://github.com/pothosware/SoapyOsmo/wiki
What it does¶
Makes the devices supported by the OsmoSDR driver library usable through SoapySDR, so SoapySDR software sees them without needing OsmoSDR-specific code.
Why you would want it¶
Only if you have the hardware. Do not confuse it with gr-osmosdr, which is the GNU Radio block that reaches many different devices -- the names are close and the two do quite different jobs. This is a device driver shim; that is a framework block.
Before it will work¶
OsmoSDR hardware and its driver library, which apt pulls in.
How it installs¶
- apt:
soapysdr-module-osmosdr
Known problems¶
The hardware was never widely produced and the software around it is maintained rather than developed. Debian built this and soapysdr-module-rfspace from the same soapyosmo source package until 0.2.5-9 (2025-10-21) disabled the RFSpace module; from then on this one ships everywhere and the RFSpace one only where the older source remains.
Keeping it current¶
- probe: apt policy
- strategy: apt_upgrade
