routino

Offline routing over OpenStreetMap data, on foot, by bike or by car

What it does

Builds a routing database from OpenStreetMap data (planetsplitter) and finds routes through it (routino-router), using profiles for foot, horse, wheelchair, bicycle and motor vehicles. QMapShack links the same router in-process; osm-routino builds the database it reads.

Why you would want it

Routing that works with no network, over the same map data as the rest of the station, and fast: five routes of 10 to 17 km on foot came back in 5 to 39 ms on one region (2026-09-28).

Before it will work

A routing database: osm-routino builds one over every region you have set. The router takes coordinates, not addresses.

How it installs

  • apt: routino

Known problems

The foot profile does not read sac_scale, so it scores an alpine path as it scores a pavement. A route cannot cross from one database into another, which is why osm-routino builds one over every region. No place or address search.

Keeping it current

  • probe: apt policy
  • strategy: apt_upgrade
