pciutils

lspci — for the SDRs and capture cards that are not on USB

What it does

Lists PCI and PCIe devices with their identifiers, drivers in use, and resource assignments.

Why you would want it

Not every SDR is a USB dongle. LimeSDR XTRX and Red Pitaya-class hardware sit on PCIe, and 'which driver claimed this device' is a question only lspci -k answers. It is also how you check whether a kernel module bound at all.

Before it will work

Nothing.

How it installs

  • apt: pciutils

Known problems

Device names come from a pci.ids database that ages; a very new card may show as an unrecognised vendor and product number, which is cosmetic rather than a fault.

Keeping it current

  • probe: apt policy
  • strategy: apt_upgrade
