odr-dabmux

Assembles audio services into a DAB ensemble multiplex

What it does

Takes several encoded audio services and their associated data and combines them into a single ETI stream -- the DAB ensemble as defined by ETSI EN 300 401 -- with the service information, labels and error protection the standard requires.

Why you would want it

DAB carries many stations in one multiplex, and the multiplexer is the piece that decides what is in it. This is the free-software implementation that community and experimental broadcasters actually use, and it is also the way to generate a standards-correct ensemble for testing a receiver.

Before it will work

Encoded audio from odr-audioenc, and something to do with the ETI output -- odr-dabmod to modulate it for transmission, or a file for a receiver such as dablin to play back.

How it installs

  • apt: odr-dabmux

Known problems

The output of this alone is a data stream, not a signal, and it is entirely lawful to generate. What follows it may not be: see odr-dabmod. Debian 13 and Parrot carry 5.1.0 against Kali's 5.5.1 (measured 2026-08-28), and the configuration file syntax has changed across that range.

Keeping it current

  • probe: apt policy
  • strategy: apt_upgrade

Where to get help with the software itself

The Open Digital Radio project. Debian declares opendigitalradio.org as the Homepage and that host answered nothing on http or https when checked on 2026-08-28 -- the same finding as the dablin manifest -- so the repository is cited. It is live: head of the default branch is ce22f5bd3f1a, 2026-06-17, read from the branch rather than from GitHub's updated_at (D-032).
