mkgmap-splitter¶
Cuts OpenStreetMap data into tiles sized for mkgmap
- Version recorded: 0.0.0+svn654
- Categories:
navigation-maps - Upstream: https://www.mkgmap.org.uk/doc/splitter.html
What it does¶
Splits an OpenStreetMap extract into tiles small enough for mkgmap and writes the template.args file mkgmap reads to build them into one map.
Why you would want it¶
mkgmap cannot take a whole region at once; osm-garmin runs this first.
Before it will work¶
None; osm-garmin runs it on your installed regions.
How it installs¶
- apt:
mkgmap-splitter
Known problems¶
Debian's wrapper defaults to a 2000 MB Java heap; osm-garmin sets 4000 MB through JAVA_OPTS, the heap it was measured with. Run from an extracted package rather than apt, it fails with NoClassDefFoundError unless its Java libraries are on the classpath; apt installs them as dependencies.
Keeping it current¶
- probe: apt policy
- strategy: apt_upgrade
