m2kcli

Command-line control of the ADALM2000 lab instrument

What it does

Drives an Analog Devices ADALM2000 from the command line: oscilloscope capture, signal generation, the logic analyser and pattern generator, the programmable power supplies and the digital I/O, each as a subcommand with output you can pipe.

Why you would want it

The ADALM2000 is a genuinely capable USB instrument -- scope, generator, logic analyser and supplies in a small box -- and its normal interface is the Scopy GUI. This is the scriptable half: automated measurement sweeps, captures triggered by something else, and instrument control inside a test script.

Before it will work

An ADALM2000 and libiio reaching it, over USB or over the network. Device access usually needs a udev rule.

How it installs

  • apt: m2kcli

Known problems

It is a thin command-line layer over libm2k and assumes you know the instrument; it will not stop you asking for a sample rate the hardware cannot deliver, and the result is data that is wrong rather than an error. The maintainer does not own this hardware, so nothing here is maintainer-verified (D-027).

Keeping it current

  • probe: apt policy
  • strategy: apt_upgrade
