libmirisdr4

Open driver for Mirics-based receivers, including SDRplay RSP hardware

What it does

A free-software driver for receivers built on Mirics silicon, which includes the SDRplay RSP line, plus the udev rules for them.

Why you would want it

It is the open alternative to SDRplay's proprietary API, so RSP hardware can be used without a closed binary driver. It is also the source of the identifiers in the sdrplay-rsp hardware entry.

Before it will work

Mirics-based hardware.

How it installs

  • apt: libmirisdr4

Known problems

It does not implement everything SDRplay's own API does, and current RSP models may enumerate differently from what this driver recognises — the sdrplay-rsp entry records that gap rather than assuming it away. Naming trap: the package is libmirisdr4, not libmirisdr0, which older documentation cites.

Keeping it current

  • probe: apt policy
  • strategy: apt_upgrade
